“Letting Go and Putting Yourself First”

Meet Ms. A, Jeri’s latest client. A describes herself as, “outgoing, fun, carefree, confident, and [a] bombshell babe.” With traits like that Ms. A’s photographs were bound to be stunning, and stunning they are!

Ms. A’s shoot with Jeri was her first professional boudoir photography experience. Jeri shared with A how best to prep her skin for her shoot, what to wear, and where to shop. (For Jeri’s tips on preparing for your shoot click here.)This helped Ms. A to walk into her session feeling confident and prepared, our goal for every JHP client. The only thing that A was nervous about was the bit of weight that she felt she had been carrying since the holidays. But Ms. A said that all the nerves dissipated as Jeri guided her on how best to pose to highlight her natural curves. Jeri’s attention to detail and suggestions on lingerie that accentuated her features made for beautiful images. “Jeri does a good job of making you feel comfortable and that you are the priority, and she won’t allow you to do anything you are not comfortable with.” Ms. A and Jeri laughed and had fun with the session which allowed A to relax and to really focus on herself while taking pictures.

As it happens, Ms. A has been on a journey of self-love and improvement. She is a mama to two children with a husband who travels for work. Because of this, A has not always been able to prioritize herself. Somewhere along the way, “maybe it comes with age,” she said, Ms. A stopped allowing what others thought of her to stand in her way, allowing herself to be who she is meant to be. She has no regrets and this is largely why she chose to book a boudoir session with Jeri Hoag Photography. This proved to be a session in which she was able to, “let her hair down and let her inner goddess out.”

Because Ms. A’s husband was gone during her shoot, JHP asked if she had shared any images with him before his return. A informed us that she had and that, “he couldn’t wait to get home.” What a way to keep the fire alive!

The best part of Ms. A’s luxury boudoir photography experience was the shoot itself. She feels that the poses come to life once you are in front of the camera and living in the moment. Which brings us to the advice A has for younger women – “You are beautiful in every way and try not to overthink it… Be transparent and you won’t regret it and you’ll get amazing results!” Ms. A also advised to, “Do this for you and only you [boudoir photography]. No need to share or say you are doing [it] for your husband. Do this and share it with him if you want later down the line. And it’s okay if a nipple pops out every now and then, and let your hair down and have fun. You might just be surprised.” A also said, “We are our own worst critics, but when you see yourself through a different lens, you may be surprised…”  Seems to me that Ms. A’s advice doesn’t just resonate for boudoir photography.
