Jill felt empowered after her boudoir photo shoot

Jeri Hoag Photography has been privileged to photograph Jill and her family for decades. JHP captured her daughter’s senior portraits, as well as her family photographs. It only made sense to have Jeri photograph Jill for her first ever boudoir session. Jill knew that Jeri would, “far exceed expectations,” and that the experience would be, “everything I expected and more.”

When Jill arrived to Jeri’s studio she wasn’t nervous, but excited. During the session Jill felt as if she were a real model. She felt relaxed and sexy. Now that the session is over and she has seen the images she plans to order large prints to display in her bedroom. “It was the most fun and fulfilling thing I’ve ever done for myself. I want to make this a yearly event…,” Jill said.

When asked why this session was so important Jill gave three answers. The first is that it was her 30th wedding anniversary with her husband Mike. Once JHP learned that her images would be a gift, JHP asked Jill what her husband thought. It was really no surprise to learn that he loved them. Jill’s favorite part of gifting Mike the images was finding out which were his favorite and comparing them to hers. The second was that the demands of being a woman over fifty, a recent struggle with her health, as well as being a wife and mother called for a treat. The final reason that this boudoir session was so important is that it gave Jill the chance to get all dolled up, something that she has always enjoyed doing, especially for pictures. And while some may find boudoir photography intimidating, Jill found it to be empowering. Not only did it provide her with the opportunity to be sexy, but it also provided her with a challenge and gave her a sense of accomplishment once completed.

Jill describes herself as, “funny, sexy, loving, eccentric, and goofy,” and says to the women who might be considering a session with Jeri Hoag Photography in the future to just do it, “…to embrace it.” When asked if she learned anything about herself during the shoot, Jill shared that she realized just how much self-confidence she truly has. To younger women Jill offers this: try to not, “…be too uptight. Enjoy your life. Prioritize the things you value the most.”
