One of Jeri’s Recent Clients Celebrated His First Birthday in a Fun Outdoor Cake Smash Milestone Session
Dad, mom, and two older sisters were recently blessed to celebrate baby Dylan’s first birthday. And what better way to document the milestone than with a cake smash session with Jeri, and a post dedicated to his first year?
Dylan is the third child born to his parents, and has two older sisters. His parents feel that he truly completes their family, and that his arrival changed the dynamic of their family in a drastic, but wonderful, way. Dylan’s dad cannot wait to someday teach Dylan how to drive a tractor or mow the lawn, or do, “…you know, all the boy stuff.” But dad of course feels so blessed to do all things glitter with his girls.
Mom could not be any happier and says, “[my] heart never knew that it was missing anything until he was born.” She feels immense responsibility towards raising a son and notes how different it feels to raise a boy. Dylan is always with his mama and has even been called a mama’s boy. Mom doesn’t mind though, because she knows that one day Dylan will realize just how special his dad is, and will venture off to go do father-son activities, leaving mom behind. For now, mom says, “I’m going to soak up all the slobbery kisses I can get and enjoy his soft little hands grabbing my face and pulling it towards his for hugs.”
Mom says that Dylan is a people magnet and, “doesn’t know a stranger.” When he meets people for the first time he will stare at them which causes them to stare back. And the longer they make eye contact, the bigger his smile gets, until both the new friend and Dylan are rolling in laughter.
Dylan is bright and inquisitive and enjoys exploring, but he tends to do things on his own terms. He enjoys testing boundaries, and as his mother put it, “is fearless in a good way.”
Dylan loves music and enjoys singing and dancing. Whenever a song comes on he tries to match his voice to the tune of the music. His favorite food is peanut butter and jelly, and his favorite drink is water. He is drawn to the color green and his favorite book is Don’t Touch a Monster, a silly touch-and-feel book about monsters. His favorite song is “Hush Little Baby” and his nickname is Chubby Bubby. This name came about because, “he has rolls on his rolls and is the only boy out of three kids, so [it] pretty much stuck right away.”
Dylan’s looks haven’t changed much since birth. He looks like his father and oldest sister, but has mom’s nose. However, he now has a mouth full of teeth mom says.
Dylan’s favorite game to play is the nose stealing game. He shrieks in joy whenever someone plays along. And because he doesn’t know a stranger, “anyone’s nose is up for grabs.”
Dylan is often referred to as being, “chill,” and is quite easy going and even natured. Although, if he is upset, he will absolutely let you know about it. Dylan, “has that red headed temper just like his sisters,” his mother reports.
Dylan prefers to be carried everywhere he goes. However, he walks more and more each day and is incredibly close to running. “We are going to be in a world of trouble soon, chasing this boy around, but look forward to watching him grow and blossom into the young man God has entrusted us to raise.”

Was in the hospital with Nick and Danielle the day you came in to take Dylan’s newborn pictures. Was so fun to watch you do your magic with the way your able to pose the babies. You do such great work. Love this piece you did on Dylan and the Family.
