“I liked the name Josephine when I was pregnant with our son. So when we found out baby was a girl we decided to use Josephine.”
Josephine Marie was born on February 22, 2020 at 12:55 p.m. Mom’s due date was February 20th with an induction date of February 25th. As the 21st came and went, mom was sure that she would have to be induced. On February 22nd at 3:30 a.m. mom woke up with mild contractions that were five to seven minutes apart. Mom labored at home until the contractions became stronger and closer together. At 8 a.m. she arrived at the hospital and learned that she was four to five centimeters dilated. By noon mom was fully dilated and ready to push but chose to wait until her sister could arrive. At 12:45 mom’s sister arrived and mom pushed through two contractions, bringing baby Josephine into the world. Mom said, “I love the feeling afterwards when they put the baby on your chest for the first time, has to be the best feeling in the world.”
Years before Josephine was born, her parents attended the same high school. Dad graduated in 2005 and mom graduated in 2009. Mom says that she played sports with her husband’s younger siblings, and that her cousin was good friends with him. They reconnected in 2015. Today, dad works on a pig farm and mom, while raised on a dairy farm, is currently a nurse taking maternity leave to enjoy her sweet family.
Mom and dad learned they were expecting on Father’s Day 2019. Mom took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. Mom just knew that Father’s Day would be the perfect time to tell him and said, “Happy Father’s Day, I’m pregnant!” Dad was thrilled.
At mom’s twenty week ultrasound both mom and dad were over the moon and cried happy tears. Mom and dad already had three boys and learned that their fourth child was to be a girl.
Naming their baby girl proved to be rather easy. During mom and dad’s third pregnancy they had fallen for the name Josephine. However, baby number three was a sweet boy. When it was learned that baby number four was to be a girl, they knew just what they would name her. Josephine received the middle name Marie because, “my grandma, mom, , mother-in-law and sister-in-law all share that as a middle name. Also on my side, all the first born females have the middle name Marie,” mom said.
