Once you book with JHP, you’ll receive a curated session prep guide filled with tips ranging from what to wear to what you can expect during your session. We’ll talk through your vision and style and together we’ll choose the perfect southern Utah location to fit your personality, be it in the studio, the soft desert landscapes, red rock backdrops, or sun-soaked fields. You will feel fully confident and camera-ready before your session even begins.
On the day of your shoot, all focus will be on creating a fun, relaxed, and empowering atmosphere for you. I’ll guide you every step of the way with expert direction on posing and expressions that feel natural and authentic. Between gentle coaching and a little laughter, I will work with you to ensure that I capture the most real and representative images of you possible that highlight your unique spirit, style, and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to take senior photos?
The summer prior to your senior year in the early mornings to avoid heat or close to sunset for that beautiful golden light. Or Fall in the evening for nice golden light. Keep in mind Winter is harder with the sun setting earlier. Spring at the end of your senior year is also a great time due to the flowers blooming.
What should I wear for my senior session?
A variety – something dressy and something casual, in a variety of colors.
How many outfits should I bring for my senior session?
Pick out 3-5 outfits to bring along then we will go though and narrow it down to 2-3 outfits to wear.
How long will it take to get my pictures back?
Within 48 hours after your session you will receive an email with a link to your gallery. After you choose the images you want to purchase it will take about 2-3 weeks (in the winter and spring) and 3-4 weeks (in the summer and fall) to get them back fully edited along with the products you order.
How long does a shoot last?
It usually takes about 2 hours, but also depends on location and outfit changes.
What about hair and makeup?
Professional hair and makeup isn’t required, but highly recommended. If you want it done then let me know when scheduling that way I can be sure to get it set up right away with one of my hair and makeup artist. There is an extra charge to add this to your session. This will help you feel and look your best.
Can I bring along props/pet?
Yes! I encourage it. Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan it into your session and we can choose the best location for it.
What if I need to reschedule?
If you change up to 72 hours ahead of time there’s no charge, but after that there’s a $50 fee. If you cancel entirely you will lose the session fee retainer you put down to hold your spot on my calendar.
What if the weather is bad on the day of my outdoor session?
No worries — we’ll reschedule if needed, or switch to a studio session if you prefer. Flexibility is always part of the experience.
