“…but I think we both knew our 1st was going to be a boy.”
Baby Knox was born to a mom and dad who first met in high school twelve years ago as of February 2020. Mom was so excited to learn that she was expecting that immediately after taking a pregnancy test in the morning, she woke dad up to share the news. Mom said that she had an easy pregnancy and wrote, “I really enjoyed every minute of it. The best part was being able to feel Knox kick and move every day.”
Mom and dad underwent routine genetic testing at nine weeks and learned then that their baby-to-be would be a boy. Testing aside, mom wrote, “but I think we both knew our 1st was going to be a boy.”
Baby Knox’s name came to be because dad had kept a list on his phone for the last six years of names that he liked for his future children. Mom and dad looked over the list of names and chose Knox because it went well with the middle name they had chosen – Dean. Dean is not only dad’s middle name, but is also a tribute to Knox’s great grandfather.
At forty weeks and three days mom, dad, and mom’s parents went out to eat. Mom enjoyed a delicious dessert with espresso in it and joked that if labor started that night, it would as a result of the dessert. Approximately an hour after arriving home mom’s contractions began at two minutes apart. They remained consistent for a couple of hours at which point mom and dad made the trip in to the hospital. Mom was seven centimeters dilated and ten minutes later her water broke. Ten more minutes and three pushes later Knox made his arrival. The doctor told mom that if they had waited any longer baby would have likely been born at home.
When mom was able to hold Knox for the first time after his birth she remembers not only the joy that she felt, but also the awe that he was finally here, that the waiting for his arrival was now over.
After arriving home with Knox, mom and dad worked to wrap their heads around being responsible for the most precious of gifts.
Sweet Knox most resembles dad, mom feels. She says that sometimes he may seem to favor her, but that it never lasts and he always returns to looking like his daddy.
